Language Arts

What are we learning?

  • We are learning that research is a process.
  • We are learning that curiosity and knowledge drive research, leading to deeper understandings and more questions.

Home/School Connection

  • How do researchers use their curiosity to guide their research?
  • Ask your child which research topic they’ve chosen.

Math

What are we learning?

    • We have been learning to represent and solve one step equations in a variety of ways. 
    • We are reviewing the Order of Operations and adding to our existing knowledge.

    Home/School Connection

      • Ask your child to name the parts of a one step equation. Test their Algebra vocabulary knowledge.
      • Walk through a one step equation with them and have them explain how to isolate the variable so that both sides are balanced.

      Social Studies

      What are we learning?

      • We are learning to demonstrate critical thinking by using evidence to show the impact of inventions (cotton gin, reaper, steamboat, steam locomotive) on life in America.
      • We are learning to evaluate the motivations and actions within the Abolitionist and Women’s Suffrage movements.
