Art

Art students are creating spring inspired artwork. 4-6 are making fiber art and K-3 are doing collage.

Music

  • Last week we started our new unit: Music Around the World. Each grade level is learning about a different country and its musical tradition, including one folk song, one spring holiday/celebration, and one musical instrument from that region. 
    • K - 2nd Grade: Indian (Holiday: Holi; Instrument: Tabla Drums; Song: Aayee Holi Re)
    • 3rd - 4th Grade: Japan (Celebration: Cherry Blossom Festival; Instrument: Koto; Song: Sakura)
    • 5th - 6th Grade: Mexico (Celebration: Spring Equinox at Teotihuacan; Instruments of the Mariachi; Songs: De Colores and Las Mananitas)
  • In-person students are also learning a performance piece.
    • 3rd: “Alpha 4” for Body Percussion
    • 4th: “Big Turtle” for Drums and Percussion
    • 5th/6th: “Thump, Thump” for Drums and Percussion

LTC

We are working on our projects per grade level and students use their E-notebooks for doing some activities related to what is covered in class.

Physical Education

  • In PE K-2 students continue to work on Teamwork.  We will be working on throwing and catching over the next few weeks along with some fun challenges.
  • In Grades 3-6 students are learning about the 5 components of fitness, including a plank challenge for Muscular Endurance, Conflict Resolution, and Staying Safe online, and in the Community. We will work on throwing activities along with some fun challenges over the next few weeks.
