What are we learning?

  • Use a ratio to compare two quantities
  • Prove that two ratios are proportional
  • Determine that equivalent ratios are helpful in solving real world problems
  • Use models or ratio reasoning to solve percent problems

Social Studies

What are we learning?

  • We are learning about the continents and oceans, the 8 geographical regions of North America and the impact they have on the growth of our country.
  • We will be learning about the European Exploration and influences they brought to North America.

What are we learning?

The Concept of Systems:

  • The Rational Number System: We will continue to build on the concept of ratios and rational numbers to solve problems including problems that require proportional reasoning
  • Systems Surround Us: We will explore the concept of systems through literature related to Astronomy as we take a closer look at systems within the Earth, Moon, & Outer Space
  • Students will begin to take a closer look at the influence of Earth’s systems on Settlement in North America

Upcoming PBL:

  • How can you, as an engineer and travel agent, create a new resort on a planet in our solar system and show why it would be the most amazing vacation spot in the galaxy?
