Language Arts

What are we learning?

  • We are drafting, revising and editing our Memoirs 
  • In reading we  are starting our fiction unit focusing on learning about character development in a story. 
  • Students in Mrs. Damon’s class have begun book clubs

Home/School Connection

  • Ensure your children have time to read,If they need books remind them to check out books during our biweekly visits to library 
  • When watching TV or a movie discuss how the characters are developed 
  • Book clubs will meet on Thursdays, students have made a plan for reading and will have weekly journal entries due.

Math

What are we learning?

  • We have been learning about fractions and decimals. We are working on ordering and comparing fractions. 
  • AAP math is reviewing decimal computation and will soon begin fractions

  • Cooking? Discuss how to double or half a recipe

Science

What are we learning?

  • We have begun our study of landforms, how and why our earth moves.
  • Watch for field trip permission slips, we will go to The Walker Nature Center to deepen our study of Geology

  • Discuss the effects of earthquakes and other natural movements of our earth.
