What are we learning?

  • Brainstorm nonfiction topics that students would want to research and write about
  • Plan and organize their research piece
  • Use text features to help navigate through and better understand a nonfiction text

Home/School Connection

  • Ask, what nonfiction books are you reading?
  • Talk about the difference between fiction and nonfiction
  • Have students share their research nonfiction ideas and/or writing

Math

What are we learning?

  • Place value up to six digits
  • Addition and subtraction with sums up to 9,999
  • Rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand
  • Estimating
