Language Arts
What are we learning?
We are in the last week of our Critical Literacy unit. In this unit our students are learning to be critical readers as they:
- Notice stereotypes in text and illustrations
- Explore perspectives that are included and those that are absent.
- Explore advantages and disadvantages of characters.
- Determine whether or not to accept how the text is positioning them.
We continue to learn how to write persuasive letters to make the world a better place, change something, solve a problem, or keep something the same. Students are learning to:
- Support their ideas with reasons
- Keep their audience in mind when writing a persuasive letter
- Talk about their ideas with partners to give and receive feedback
- Use the structure of a letter to help communicate their ideas

WEDNESDAY May 11th 6:30-7:30 is Terraset’s Cuddle Up and Read event. Come get your new, free books and learn how to help
your child become a life-long reader. Beginning now, please send in pictures of your Tiger reading, (the cuddlier the better) gently used magazines for kids and grownups, and gently used blankets all of which will be used at the event. Thank you!!

What are we learning?
- We are in our Geometry unit:
- We will learn and identify shapes
- We will compare plane and solid figures
- We will identify lines of symmetry

Science
What are we learning?
- Students will know that some animals migrate as a response to seasonal change. (we are following the Monarch butterflies)
- plants and animals go through unique changes as they grow and develop.
- A habitat can change over time due to natural and human influences.
- Changes in habitats can occur quickly or slowly over time.

What are we learning?
- We are learning about the lives and contributions of Early Americans and Civil Rights Leaders
