Meet Terraset’s ESOL Teachers

Ms. Prieto has worked as an ESOL teacher at Terraset for the past 8 years. This is Mrs. Hoffman’s third year at Terraset and she joined the ESOL team last year.

 

Who do we work with at Terraset?

We teach students who have another language other than English spoken at home and need English language support.

 

Our students! 

Our students come from a variety of language backgrounds. We have languages from all over the world. Albanian, Arabic, Chinese/Mandarin, Dari, Farsi/Persian, German, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Twi, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese.

 

Our Goal

Our goal is to develop the language proficiency of our English learners  (ELs) in: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We target language development through small groups in or out of the classroom. We also support classroom teachers with instructional planning and co-teaching. We partner with our school parent liaison in fostering a strong home-school connection.

All students can learn and need academic rigor. Everyone brings something special to our Terraset community. We are committed to helping each English learner grow in their language proficiency and develop big dreams.
