Language Arts

What are we learning?

  • We are working on writing persuasively and reading with an eye for bias.

Home/School Connection

  • When you watch TV or see a print ad talk about who the audience is and how are the makers of the ad appealing to the consumer?

Math

What are we learning?

  • AAP math  has begun an algebra unit where we will  work with solving linear equations using algebra mats, scale models and inverse operations.
  • Gen Ed. math has continued to work on computing decimals specifically targeting strategies to divide decimals. Our next unit will be Fraction Computation.

Home/School Connection

  • Watch for algebra in the world, what is the expression? For example the check out line for “15 or less” 
  • Figure how much money each family member will get to spend at the carnival when you have a total of $51.45. Show your division strategy.

Science

What are we learning?

  • After spring break we will study cells and characteristics of the plant and animal world. 
  • AAP: As a final event in our study of change, students are sharing their Re design inventions.

Home/School Connection

  • Take a walk and notice the different types of plants,vascular( root system)  and nonvascular( moss for example).

           Animals with a back bone (vertebrates and animals without a backbone( invertebrates)


Social Studies

AAP is taking a quick look at Ancient India and comparing it to other cultures we have studied.
