Language Arts

What are we learning?

  • Brainstorm nonfiction topics that students know a lot about and would want to write about
  • Plan and organize their “all about” piece
  • Use text features to help navigate through and better understand a nonfiction text

Home/School Connection

  • Ask, what nonfiction books are you reading?
  • Talk about the difference between fiction and nonfiction
  • Have students share their “all about” nonfiction ideas and/or writing
  • Continue reinforcing our character unit:
    • How has the main character of your story changed?
    • What are some traits to describe your character?  Why?

  • Break wholes into fractions
  • Mode improper fractions and mixed numbers
  • Name improper fractions and mixed numbers
  • Comparing and ordering fractions
