Why Sugar Tastes So Good!

By Isabella

Lollipops, cake, chocolate, cotton candy, cookies! Are you ever wondering why you enjoy sweets that contain sugar? Well, I bet since probably a lot of you like to enjoy a good dessert, I’ll explain! At the top of your tongue are special sensors called “taste buds”. When your taste buds sense the sugar’s sweet taste on your tongue it sends a message to the brain. When the brain receives the message, it reacts with what we call delight. Hope you enjoyed!

Cheetahs

By Zoey

Cheetahs are the fastest land animal in the word, but you probably know that. What other facts about cheetahs do you want to know? A group of cheetahs is called a  coalition. The cheetah's body is very thin and flexible so that it can run at speeds up to 80 MPH. It is yellow with black spots all over it with a long tail and a small head with a white throat. There is not much that I could find for cheetahs but I do know that this animal is very interesting and that you should learn more about it.

Tips for Online School

By Mimi

Here are some tips for online school. I know that sometimes online school might get a little tough, but here are some tips. My first tip is you just need to stop for a little and take a stretch break. If you don’t need a break and you want to have some fun you could change the font or color of text. You also should have a work space like a desk or table, but you shouldn’t be on a couch. The reason for this is because you will tend to doze off and not pay attention. Also you will want to have an organized space to know where everything is. I hope you liked my tips and I’ll talk to you next time, bye!

How to do a Backbend

By Joyce

Well, let me tell you. First, go on the floor.

Next, put one hand back, but make sure that the space in your arms looks like a half O. Then do the other hand. Remember to stay steady and practice this when you have time! Wait, before you go, ask someone in your home if it looks like a backbend. If not, you can ask them to spot you, or you can go on Youtube and watch how to do a backbend. I know it’s really hard, especially if you don’t have a flexible back! Well, believe you can do it! Also, I believe you can do it.

Here’s a quote that Miley Cyrus said.

         “If you believe in yourself…

         Anything’s possible.”

Don’t stop believing in yourself no matter what happens!

Stay healthy, be steady and then you're ready!

Spot- Has someone shape your body into the shape needed to complete the backbend.

Ambassadors Update!

Written by Mr. Gayl, Ambassadors leader

Hey Tigers,

5th and 6th graders have a wonderful opportunity to apply for our ambassadors program. From now until Monday January 25th, students can fill out an application located on their teachers google classroom. Ambassadors is an incredible opportunity for students to learn, develop and apply leadership skills while impacting the students, teachers, families and communities surrounding Terraset Elementary. We engage in fun activities, have important discussions and find different ways of serving the school and community. Ambassadors meet every Friday at 3:30 and when putting together a project or event for the school. If you want to make a difference, have plenty of ideas and have a desire to lead, please fill out an application. In the words of Steven Covey, “Leadership is a choice, not a position”.

I hope to see some of you soon!

Chris's Journey Part 3

By Brooke

Ranger Tom took care of me for about a week, and then he said “ It’s time to release you.” I leaped up in surprise. He chuckled and said “My, aren’t you excited!” He led me to his truck and I stepped in the crate. He drove me to a forest that I didn’t know. I grunted, and he looked back at me. “ Not up to your standards, eh?” I loved how Ranger Tom knew what I was thinking. He drove off to a new place. As he slowed I heard a chainsaw. I roared, this was my forest, and someone was cutting it down. Tom jumped out and told me- “Stay here, I’ll be back soon.” He came back with two handcuffed men. They were shoved in the back of the truck. Tom slowly came up and opened my crate, and I bounded out. I ran straight to Mama’s hangout place, and something caught my eye. A tail flicked just inside my vision and I bounded. “Mama!” I shouted. “Chris, is that you?” The voice said. It wasn’t Mama, it was my sister. ‘Where’s Mama?” I said. “She went to Hudson’s.” Hudson was another jaguar that did not like us  at all, and Mama often talked about setting his mind straight. I guess she decided that it was time for that. I ran over to meet Mama. She met me and said, “Chris, you’re back!” I told her about my journey. We talked the whole night through.
