Mask Update

By Isabella

Mask alert! Masks are one of the top reasons you don’t have COVID-19 right now. Masks don’t only protect you, but also the people around you! Wearing a mask prevents you from sharing the same air with a possible coronavirus patient. Now, nobody has to wear their masks around their own home, but if you have visitors, it might be safer to wear a mask and social distance with them. Wearing a mask can be annoying, especially if you wear glasses. But a suggestion to find a way around that is to wear a mask with a metal strip at the top. You can tightly seal your mask with no air slipping out! Wearing a mask would definitely help our local, and world wide economy. Millions of people are suffering because of this world-wide virus. It would be better if everyone wore a mask especially in public. Make sure to be safe and wear a mask! You could be saving lives with just one choice to wear your mask.

Beetle That Can't be Crushed

By Zoey

Hi, my name is Zoey, and I am writing about the best beetle ever! There is a beetle that can’t be crushed. Its name is the Diabolical Ironclad beetle! It is the world's strongest beetle. Its shell has pieces like a puzzle that all fit together and make an armor-like shell. This freaky little friend, even when a car runs it over, can still survive without getting hurt. Even though it can survive most anything, it will play dead for a bit so if there are predators, it will be safe. I call it freaky because it lives up to eight years where as most other beetles only live for a couple weeks. IT'S CRAZY!
This beetle can hold up 39,000 times its own body weight. So if you ever see one and try to crush it, you will fail.

Special Holiday Today

By Stacey

Hi! I’m Stacey! Did you know, everyday is a holiday?

Well, now you do!

Today's Holiday is National Energy Conservation Day!

How can we conserve energy?

Turn off the lights when you aren’t in the room!

  1. Instead of leaving your device on sleep or rest, turn it off! Just like us, Computers need rest!
  2. When using a device, if you want to save your battery, you can go on power saving mode instead of going on full brightness and too many apps opened.
  3. Turn off a fan when it isn’t in use
  4. Always use cold water while showering unless you really want hot water.

Movies

By Annaleigh

Hi, I’m Annaleigh. Did you know that there are so many cool ways to make movies? One kind of movie is called stop motion animation. How it works-

  • You would have an item and you would move the item a little bit at a time
  • You would take a picture every time you move it.
  • Once you're done taking the photos, you would download the app iMotion.
  • Once you're on iMotion you would put all the photos together into one movie.

It's like a cartoon movie but with actual photos inside of drawings. You can add music or use the microphone to play your character's voice. That is how you make a stop motion animation movie.

Another way to make a movie is called Wevideo. It is like a slideshow.

  • You would have to upload videos and photos to it.
  • You have some options on it. You can add transition to it. You can add text to it. You can add audio to it. You can add backgrounds to it. You can add frames to it. You can add animated stickers to it.
  • Your videos and photos can be found in My Media.

Those are two different ways to make movies. Hope you enjoyed!

Gymnastics Tips and Tricks

By Joyce

Hi, I’m Joyce and I will tell you about gymnastics. Here are some facts….

Cartwheel-Point your toes. Put your hands up in the air. Then use momentum to push yourself to the other side. The question is, how to push yourself to the other side?!

So you put the first hand on the floor and then use your momentum. Add the second hand on the floor and then flip over and in your head say ‘I can do it! I can do it!’  Make sure to be safe and protect yourself, bye!

Importance of Plantsphoto of sprouting plants

By Mimi

Hi I’m Mimi, and I want to tell you about the importance of plants. Plants help us survive, life as we know it would not be possible without plants. For example, plants supply almost all terrestrial organisms (including humans). Plants maintain the atmosphere, because they produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. This helps reduce the greenhouse effect and global warming. They also help protect the ozone layer. The ozone layer helps protect Earth’s life from damaging UV rays. Plants also help make a lot of products we use. For example, medicines, fibers, firewood, paper, rubber, oils, and dyes (there are many more but these are just some examples). They also provide homes for a lot of different animals. A single tree may provide food and shelter to many species of insects, worms, small mammals, birds, and reptiles. I hope you learned that plants are super important!
