As we continue our independent research we will

• Realize how curiosity and prior knowledge drive research
• Understand that knowledge is always developing and changing the more people understand a topic
• Ask and seek questions 
• Use multiple texts and resources to construct understandings
• Seek new ideas about a topic you may already know some facts about

Math

What are we learning?

• Identify and describe geometric figures
• Compare and contrast components of geometric figures: points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, obtuse and acute), parallel and perpendicular lines
• Explore properties of quadrilaterals
• Explore non-numerical patterns

Home/School Connection

• Identify geometric figures in real life
• Compare the components of real life geometric figures
• Compare and contrast the characteristics of quadrilaterals found in real life
• Identify, extend, and create non-numerical patterns with everyday objects

Science

What are we learning?

• They will be developing and using models. 
• The kids will analyze data from simple tide tables to determine a
  pattern of high and low tides. 
• We’ll be able to demonstrate and explain how wind causes the formation of currents. 

• They’ll compare the motions of water as related to currents and tides.

Home/School Connection

• Ask them how wind affects the oceans and land.
• Play in the tub (or sink) with straws to see how the wind moves the water.

Social Studies

What are we learning?

• We’ll discuss how individuals can stop injustice in our society.
• They’ll see how the President of the United States can change the course of history.
• We’ll look at why people might risk their lives for a cause.
